Nokia E61 with Gmail Client

I have been using the E61 Nokia mobile phone. and with Gmail client... I am a happy camper. There are bugs (i.e., does not read all files) but overall value is good.

  • Both 3G and WIFI connection.
  • Works as a phone.
  • Gmail FULL integration using the Gmail application.
  • Good Sync with my computer.

I am still struggling with connecting my Google addresses, phone addresses, and outlook addresses. Still using calendar on good old outlook.

Elf Clan to leave Second Life due to system instability

Elf ClanTavern with Odil, Pypo,Wayfinder, Schlitzie and otherfriends.
This is a sad Metaverse story. What can happen if a Metaverse is all about hype and lack meaning. The story is quated here (lots of more details in the site).

From Nov 2004-Nov 2006 Elf Clan was the premiere fantasy group of Second Life, a virtual community.

Founder: Wayfinder Wishbringer the "Eldar" of the High Elven Race. In addition to High Elven could be found our loyal allies the Orc, Dragonkin, Pixies, Mer, Drow and yes, even Human, all living in harmony.

Elf Clan was a very friendly group, void of the eliteism found in many elven and medieval groups. All members were considered as "equals", our primary creed that of honor, loyalty, respect and integrity. Elf Clan was a beneavolent monarchy in operation (in keeping true to Elven Lore). A High Counsel assisted the Eldar in group operation.

We sponsored many interesting activities, including archery tournaments (with working virtual bows and arrows), BattleMace (tm) competitions, Drum Circle Dances (the drum circle was created specifically for Elf Clan by master builder Robbie Dingo), SkyHigh Races (including little critters, tiny snails, wolves and unicorn races, with much thanks to Prim Mage RacerX Gullwing), and various other games and contests. In addition, our offshoot branch, the tiny "Rabid Elves" group enjoyed invading the war-like Jesse sim (be afwaid. Be vewy afwaid).

The home of Elf Clan was ElvenMyst sim, a residential land of grace and beauty and a fascinating fantasy-theme market with both above- ground and underground merchants (literally).

Nov 2006 Elf Clan ceased financial support of the Second Life platform due to system instability and lack of responsiveness from the host company. The group and lands are still remembered fondly by those who visited. Information regarding these matters is contained on additional pages.

UFTAA Congress: From a Travel Agent to a Travel BroKer

I had the pleasure to participate in the 40th UFTAA Congress, Delhi, India, 17 September 2006.

The United Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations (UFTAA) emanates from the Universal Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations created in Rome, Italy, on November 22nd, 1966. UFTAA was originally founded as a result of a merger of two large world organisations, FIAV and UOTAA, recognising the need to unify travel agencies and tour-operators into one international federation. UFTAA started its operation as a Confederation on January 1st, 2003. It is a non-profit Confederation of international scope, representing Regional Federations comprising some 100 national associations.
The topic of my talk was the changing rule in the industry from an agent to a broker. I used the capital K to note the importanace of knowledge. See the presentation here

Jira: best software to manage issues

2 years ago I was looking for a bug and issue tracking software. Excel simply did not have enough cells. There were few options and we chose Jira (www.jira.com) Atlassian Software from -- something in their web site looked good. We installed the software, it looked good, paid the very low fee (I think it was around $2000 or s0) and started to work.

Well, my life as a manager were transformed. !!! I'm very happy. The software simply work and work and work. In 24 months we turn to Jira to manage all that we do. From mnagaging install for new computers, to manageing partners, clients, and our own internal team. There are endless options to modify the Jira to your needs.

You will need to invest 2-3 hrs learning the software -- but once you get it -- you will have a friend for life. I love it.

Google Factory Tour

Google Factory Tour event on 5/19/05 at Google's Mountain View headquarters. A bit old -- but gives you the gist of the google culture. This is long (5+hrs). I liked the 70%, 20%, 10% rule (70% core, 20% near core, 10% cool/new ideas).

Search on your desktop: X1

X1 serach (www.x1.com) is one of those things you get hooked to very quickly. It is simply, clear, and WORKs.

Key benefits:
* Free (OK, you can pay for support).
* Search parts of words (for example "yes" will also show "yesha")
* works on files, emails, shared drives.
